Big data, digital biomarkers and emerging data sources - Shahid Hanif
1:20 PM - 2:20 PM
The Innovative Medicines Initiative 2 (IMI2) Big Data for Better Outcomes (BD4BO) was launched in 2016 as an umbrella programme with the overall objective of realising the potential of Big Data in the context of European healthcare; for promoting innovative methods through harmonising, accessing and analysing data. The objective as defined by IMI is to “Support the evolution towards patient-centred, outcomes focused and sustainable healthcare systems, exploiting the opportunities offered by large data sets from various sources”.
The Programme is composed of several projects to facilitate the transition of healthcare systems towards more outcomes transparency, including an over-arching coordination structure through a Coordination and Support Action (CSA) implemented by the Big Data for Better Outcomes, Policy Innovation and Healthcare Systems Transformation (DOIT) consortium, and the European Health Data Network (EHDN) project, a federated network of relevant and high quality data sources. The disease-specific projects include Real World Outcomes Across the Spectrum for Better Care (ROADMAP – Alzheimer’s Disease); Healthcare Alliance for Resourceful Medicines Offensive against Neoplasm in Hematology (HARMONY – Hematological Malignancies); Big Data for Better Hearts (BigData@Heart – Cardiovascular), and The European Network of Excellence for Big Data in Prostate Cancer (PIONEER).
This presentation will provide further details, an update on the progress of these projects, and an overview of their expected deliverables.
