A publisher's view on RWE studies and articles - Andrea Bucceri

4:10 PM - 4:25 PM

Andrea Bucceri

The importance of real-world evidence (RWE) has been increasing in various areas over the last few years, including: drug-development, regulatory and healthcare decision-making. This has led to an increased number of submissions of RWE studies to medical journals, as well as different perspectives over the interpretation of RWE results and the way they are reported. This session will focus on a publisher’s views on the publication of different types of RWE studies and it will provide suggestions on how to prepare RWE manuscripts for submission, choose the appropriate journal for publication, address most common reviewers’ criticisms and how to consider a ‘plan B’ for the publication of small, confirmatory studies. At the end of the session, the audience will have a better understanding on how to deal with the most relevant aspects in the publication of RWE studies in medical journals.

A wealth of RWE studies are now published by many journals, across both specialist epidemiology/outcomes research publications and clinical journals. This presentation provides an overview of the points that medical communication professionals should consider when publishing RWE, including journal choice, publication type and options to ensure RWE publications reach their target audience, are well read and make the desired impact.
