After completing his studies at the University of Vienna, Otto Spranger moved to industry, where he was Director of Marketing and Sales from 1980 to 1997. In 1998, he set up his own consultancy in the healthcare sector. His commitment to allergies and asthma results not least from his own concern. His daughter also suffers from allergies and asthma. In order to help other sufferers and provide information, he leads the self-help organisation Österreichische Lungenunion for 29 years. The Österreichische Lungenunion is a patient organisation for people with allergies, asthma, COPD, lung cancer and atopic eczema. He is a member of the ethics committee in Vienna and was Member of the Ethics Committee of EAACI. For more than 10 years he was head of the Centre of Patient Organisations Vienna. In 2009 he founded together with Mrs. Dr. Fink-Wagner the Global Allergy & Asthma Patient Platform and represented the organisation in WHO-GARD.
