Expert Seminar Series

Expert Seminar Series

The EMWA Expert Seminar Series (ESS) welcomes experienced medical writers, heads of medical writing departments, and industry leaders from other disciplines who are interested in the latest developments affecting the medical writing industry and playing a role in shaping the world of medical writing.

Wednesday 08 May

ESS 1 - Where is publishing going?

This ESS session will cover:

  • enhanced content of online published manuscripts (supplementary online material, video abstracts, etc.)
  • publishing scientific manuscripts as open access – what does it mean? (understanding different types of open access, creative common licenses, commercial use of published manuscripts as open access- do’s and don’ts)
  • pre-prints.
  • A short breakout session will follow the talks.

ESS 2 - RMPs and new format PSURs (PBRERs): what the regulators really want and how to give it to them

ESS 3 - Writing for health technology assessment (HTA)

Health Technology Assessment (HTA) involves a multi-disciplinary approach and medical writers are increasingly being called upon to write HTA reports. Bearing this in mind we are pleased to offer for the first time an ESS session focussing on HTA. This half-session (1.5 hours) will feature presentations by two experienced speakers and a panel discussion. Participants can expect an introduction to HTA and the implications it has on the formulation of sound health policies.

Friday 10 May

ESS 4 - Updates from the medical device industry

Following the success of the Medical Device (MD) Symposium in Barcelona, we are offering the first ESS session on MD in Vienna.

ESS 5 - Regulatory submissions - highlights on different procedures, applications and public disclosure
